Hawk App | Strengthening Connection

Indigenous-Led Innovation for Stronger Communities
What started as a Nation Building project has now expanded into a communications tool used by First Nations and Indigenous organizations across Canada. The Hawk Communications App was designed by Indigenous people, for Indigenous communities—to make staying connected easier, faster, and more secure.
What’s Happening with Hawk Communications
The Hawk App gives Nations and organizations full control over their communications. Through a simple, easy-to-use platform, they can send updates, share events, post resources, and deliver emergency alerts—all directly to members’ phones.
Whether members live in the community or across the country, Hawk keeps them informed and connected in real time.
As shared in the video, “The goal was always simple—build something that works for us, by us, and keeps our people connected.”
How the Nation Building Grant Made This Possible
Hawk Communications was developed with support from the Nation Building Grant, a funding program that supports First Nations in building governance capacity, communications infrastructure, and long-term sustainability. That early support allowed Hawk to build something truly meaningful—a platform that reflects the realities, needs, and strengths of Indigenous communities.

Why It Matters for BC First Nations
Reliable, culturally relevant communication is essential for Nation building. It keeps members informed, engaged, and connected—especially in times when clarity and trust are more important than ever.
Hawk is proof of what’s possible when Indigenous innovation is backed by Indigenous-led funding.
About the Nation Building Grant
