The Indigenous Labour Market Fund (LMF) supports Indigenous communities across B.C. in identifying and addressing employment gaps, training opportunities, and barriers to participation in the workforce. This funding is designed to enhance Indigenous-led initiatives that improve employment outcomes and build long-term capacity in ways that complement, but do not duplicate, existing WorkBC and ISET services.

B.C. First Nations (Indian Act / self government / treaty) or entities under their control
Tribal Councils
ISET offices
Métis Nation Government of B.C. or chartered communities
Indigenous-owned organizations effectively controlled by communities

Intake Frequency
The LMF accepts applications through continuous intake periods:
Intake 1: January 15, 2024 – Open until funds are exhausted
Intake 2: Open – Until funds are exhausted
Intake 3: May 13, 2026 – December 1, 2026 (or until funds are exhausted)

Applicants may now apply to more than one stream at a time where there is a clear and strategic connection between project components.
Stream 1: Labour Market Plans/Studies
Overview
Goal:
The creation or update of labour market plans and/or studies that help applicants identify jobs, training opportunities, and better ways to take part in the workforce.
Eligible Activities:
Activities that support the gathering and analysis of local labour market information and opportunities within the applicant’s territory.

Stream 2: Cultural Recognition Support
Overview
Goal:
The development or update of a Cultural Training Program to help employers learn about your culture so that they may better recruit, retain, and advance indigenous workers as employees.
Eligible Activities:
Activities that support the gathering of cultural values, traditions, and supports into training programs and modules for employers.
These may also include supports such as Elder-in-Residence programs, Indigenous Employee support programs, and culturally informed mentorships.

Overview
Goal:
Host an innovative job fair to foster and support the inclusion of Indigenous workers within local industry, training opportunities, and employers.
Eligible Activities:
Activities that support the planning, execution, and post-event supports for local career/job fairs.
Eligible Costs:
Wages or Salaries (New hires only)

Resume Writing, Job Coaching
Attendance incentives, transportation assistance
Marketing. Advertising
Venue, Catering
Consulting, Professional, Speaker Fees

Professional, technical, legal, and consulting services
Capacity building (including non-duplicative professional development)
Materials, supplies, and equipment
Community engagement and knowledge-sharing
Other costs directly related to the approved project
Ineligible Costs
Existing administrative and overhead costs
Salaries or honoraria for existing staff
Capital expenditures unrelated to the project
Training or services already provided by ISET or WorkBC
Funding Approval Process
Applications will be reviewed for eligibility and completeness. Please allow 3-6 weeks to receive a funding decision once a complete application is submitted.
Reporting Requirements
Recipients must submit a final report using the standard reporting tool (see below under ‘How to Apply” to access this tool). The report should highlight successes, challenges, and lessons learned to support knowledge-sharing with other Indigenous communities pursuing similar initiatives.

Can I apply to more than one stream?
Yes, you can apply to multiple streams if there is a clear strategic connection between the project components and you do not have a current open project within that stream.
