Empowering Indigenous Job Seekers Through Skills and Support

In the heart of Greater Vancouver, ACCESS (Aboriginal Community Career Employment Services Society) is helping Indigenous individuals break through barriers and build meaningful careers. With support from the Indigenous Labour Market Fund, ACCESS is offering culturally grounded programs that connect people with the skills, training, and support needed to thrive in today’s workforce.

What’s Happening at ACCESS

From job search assistance to trades certifications, ACCESS offers a full suite of employment and training services designed to meet individuals where they’re at. Their programming includes:

  • BladeRunners: Supporting Indigenous youth aged 18–30 with life skills, safety training, and direct links to jobs in the construction industry.
  • Employment Services: Career advising, resume support, and funding for further training—all available through their locations in Vancouver and Surrey.
  • Trades & Apprenticeship Programs: ACCESS partners with local colleges and training schools to help people become certified in high-demand trades.

What sets ACCESS apart is its commitment to cultural relevance—recognizing that real employment support must be grounded in understanding, community, and long-term investment.

As shared in the video, “We’re not just getting people into jobs—we’re helping them build a future they can be proud of.”

Why This Matters for BC First Nations

Across British Columbia, First Nations and Indigenous organizations are leading efforts to create better pathways to employment. ACCESS is a standout example of how tailored, community-led support can drive real, lasting change in people’s lives and strengthen the overall economy.

With the right tools, resources, and culturally safe spaces, Indigenous job seekers are not only entering the workforce—they’re shaping it.
