Tŝilhqot’in Solar Farm

The Tŝilhqot’in Solar Farm is a 1.25 MW solar photovoltaic (PV) farm on the former River West sawmill in the Chilcotin near Hanceville, BC. The region is Tŝilhqot’in traditional territory and the sawmill and adjacent lands are owned by the Tŝilhqot’in National Government (TNG). The Tŝilhqot’in Solar Farm is the largest of its kind in BC. and is the only one that is 100% owned and operated by a First Nation. The Tŝilhqot’in Solar Farm was funded by the BC Indigenous Clean Energy Initiative (BCICEI) in 2018 and 2019 for a total of $350,000.
